Steve Albini

The Italian phrase "passione e fuoco" (passion and fire), truly describes the music of singer/musician Steve Albini.  His performances of Italian music fused with jazz and world rhythms have brought him international acclaim. He has enchanted audiences throughout the United States, Italy and the world with a blend of musical virtuosity and artistic passion. His live performances span Italian, world, jazz and Latin American genres.  As a studio musician Steve is often called by producers and artists to add his touch to their projects.  He is currently an Artist and Clinician for Roland Corporation.  Steve also works together with world champion accordionist Tatiana Semichastnaya.  Their current project is the World music group Il Sole.  Steve performs regularly at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Gerserville, CA.  




Sergei Teleshev

Classically trained at the Academy of Music in Voronezh, Russia, Sergei Teleshev has won many regional and international accordion competitions and was an award-winning finalist in the 1995 World Accordion Competition, held in Klingenthal, Germany.

He collaborates with many internationally recognized artists, ensembles, and orchestras (including Trio Voronezh, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Doc Severinsen, Halie Loren, International String Trio, Miroslav Lelyukh and many others...),  composing and arranging music,  participates in recording projects of different genres.




Lyle and Toby’s Polka Parade

Lyle Schaefer and Toby Hanson have known each other and played together at various events for over twenty years.  Each of them brings a considerable degree of experience to the group.  Lyle began playing professionally over forty years ago and has worked as a strolling accordionist, side man, and band leader in various groups through that time.  His most notable group was The Schaefer Brothers polka band, which he led with his late brother Lynn in the 1990s.  Toby began playing professionally more than twenty years ago, working with his own band and as a member of various others.  Together, they bring their years of experience together to create a dazzling, toe-tapping combination of polka duets in the tradition of Yankovic and Miskulin or Verne and Steve Meisner.

Dan and Kim Christian
Dan and Kim Christian share a passion for extending joy and love through excellent music performed on the most incredible instrument on the planet. Their dream is to share their heart felt enthusiasm for the magical, ingenious ways of the accordion with as many people as possible!
Dan and Kim met when Kim was just 5 years old and Dan began taking lessons from Kim’s father. Kim’s parents have run a successful accordion school for over 50 years. Both Dan and Kim grew up competing yearly at music festivals. Dan is a 4 time Rocky Mountain Accordion Society Virtuoso Accordion Champion. Kim is a 2 time RMAS Virtuoso Champion, a US National Champion (AAA) and an honorary bronze medal World Champion (Coupe Mondiale).
Both Dan and Kim (32 years of marriage), have taught music lessons for over 30 years, educating hundreds of people in the art of music. They have experienced performing on the same stage with Bobby Vinton, Andy Williams and Les Brown. To learn more about this amazing duo, please see .


The Northwest Accordionaires
The Northwest Accordionaires is an Accordion Orchestra comprised of 14 Accordions, plus Drums, Tuba, Bass, Vocals and Strings as well as other Orchestral Instruments depending on the requirements of the music from the era that is being performed. The Orchestra has performed in and around Seattle as well as Victoria, BC.
The members come from varied backgrounds, ranging from Engineers to Teachers.
Rehearsals are held on the Eastside. It has been in existence for 14 years. All the arrangements from Folk to popular Broadway tunes as well as Classical, are original and are penned by the Founder, Leader and Conductor Cooksie Kaserzon Kramer (A.T.C.L. L.T.C.L. A.B.C.A. L.B.C.A.). Originally from South Africa, she opened and ran the largest Music Studio in Johannesburg with three Accordion Orchestras, Junior, Intermediate and Advanced. Cooksie won the South African Accordion Championship and went to New York to represent South Africa and participate in the Coupe Mondiale in 1959 (check out her You-Tube Videos). She now resides in Kirkland, WA where she teaches Piano, Accordion and Organ. She is also the creator and President of the Eastside Jazz Club.

Zydeco Rex
Zydeco Rex is a Seattle based band playing traditional Zydeco from Southwest Louisiana. The band formed in 2013 and has played various venues including blues clubs, Dance halls, weddings, corporate parties, and numerous festivals around the Greater Seattle area.
Zydeco is a, high-energy, rhythmic, Accordion drenched music with elements of Caribbean rhythm, Creole and Cajun melodies, with some blues, country, and a little rock and roll all thrown into the mix.
Zydeco Rex band members include:
Mark Myking on accordions, both piano accordion and the single row diatonic. Mark first heard Zydeco music while in the Merchant Marines and shipping out of Gulf Coast Ports. He was captivated by the playing styles of Clifton Chenier, John and Geno Delafose, Beau Jocque, Chubby Carrier and Boozoo Chavis.
Tina Tanaka brings her vocals and Rubboard playing into the mix.
Kevin Kilmartin; Electric guitar. Kevin also has been playing Zydeco in the area for many years with various bands.
Will Tanaka on electric bass and vocals. Will has been around the Seattle music scene for many years and lays down the groove on the back line.
Danny Salonen, Drums and vocals. While Danny is the youngest member of the band he is not short on musical experience. Danny is the grandson of Dave Lang of the Zydeco Band, “How’s Bayou”.
So whether you just want to tap your toes or get your groove on and kick up some dust, come-on out and hear Zydeco Rex lay down some authentic Louisiana Zydeco for ya’ll right here in Leavenworth.

Stas Venglevski

His artistry, dazzling technical command, and sensitivity have brought Stanislav, "Stas," Venglevski, a native of the Republic of Moldova, part of the former Soviet Union, increasing acclaim as a virtuoso of the Bayan. A two-time first prize winner of Bayan competition in the Republic of Moldova, Stas is a graduate of the Russian Academy of Music in Moscow where he received his Masters Degree in Music under the tutelage of the famed Russian Bayanist, Friedrich Lips. In 1992 he immigrated to the United States.
Stas is an Accordionist, a Musician, an Arranger, an Entertainer and a Teacher. Stas' repertoire includes his original compositions, a broad range of classical, contemporary and ethnic music. He has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States, including numerous performances with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen and with Garrison Keillor on the Prairie Home Companion Show. Additionally, he has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States. He performed the world premiere of Concerto No. 2 by Anthony Galla-Rini and also the world premiere of Bayan and Beyond, composed for Stas by Dan Lawitts.
He is a regular participant the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Arts in Community Education Program (ACE); has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra; has done television commercials and performed in theater productions; produced numerous recordings including a transcription of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite for Bayan as well as one of original compositions. He has published several books of original compositions.

The Portatos

One of a kind, The Portatos | Modernized Accordion Band is the only young accordion band of its size in the United States that is comprised of young musicians, the majority of whom are under 18. They bring an upbeat, dynamic presence to the stage. Under the direction and coaching of musician and teacher Patricia Bartell, The Portatos is comprised of accordion students and teachers from Able To Play Music LLC, one of the largest accordion studios in North America.

From disco to polka, modern hits to old favorites, a performance by The Portatos | Modernized Accordion Band may include songs like The Final Countdown, Brazil, Mission Impossible, Viva La Vida, and more! The music is arranged specifically to compliment the blend of 8 accordionists, bassist, violinist and drummer.
Since their inception in 2011, The Portatos have been performing for audiences of all ages. Their venues include the Spokane Interstate Fair (2012, 2013), the Bing Crosby Theater (2012-2015), the Spokane Fall Folk Festival (2011-Present), Valleyfest, Spokane’s Pig Out in the Park, and KPBX Spokane Public Radio. They have been awarded first place and showmanship awards at the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration, the Kimberly International Old Time Accordion Competition, and the Victoria International Accordion Festival.


LIAC Dance Band

Enjoy dancing or just listening to the LIAC Jam Dance Band. We will play a selection of polkas, waltzes, fox trots, swing, and latin rhythms for your dancing pleasure. The band consists of a combination of professional accordion players and volunteer players who would like to sit-in. All levels are welcome. Players are encouraged to attend the “How to Jam” workshop in the Grange to practice some of our pieces. See the Grange schedule for details.
